Pizza Party Thursday's

Thursday, November 17th Cipriano & Johnson has our Pizza Party Thursday!  And YOU are invited to Eat, to Fellowship, and to Have Fun!

FEMALE GROUPS

FEMALE GROUPS Three Nights a Week: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

WOMEN’S GROUPS

Cipriano & Johnson have the only Gender Specific IOP in Jacksonville.  Addiction can affect men and women differently, and often, as we are finding out, women will respond more freely in a gender-specific setting, than in a mixed-gender session.

Many women have said that the benefits to gender-specific treatment groups help because of the  there is less distraction and it’s easier to focus on gender-specific causes and some of the surrounding symptoms of addiction.

When a person can eliminate some of the distractions between participants and are allowed to get real while discussing recovery openly and honestly, then the focus can be outcome of support and growth.

Women’s Groups are held Three Nights a Week:

Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Dr. Terri Gnann discusses ‘National Fentanyl Awareness Day’

Dr. Terri Gnann goes more in-depth and discusses more of the intricacies and other misconceptions surrounding this deadly and mostly misunderstood synthetic drug, fentanyl.

When people overdose on fentanyl, breathing becomes increasingly difficult and their breathing can slow down or stop altogether. The oxygen that reaches the brain stops and dramatically decreases through a condition called hypoxia.

Hypoxia can often lead to a coma and, in fact, permanent brain damage, and even death. Naloxone is available as an injectable (needle) solution and nasal sprays (NARCAN® and KLOXXADO®).

When a person overdoses on a particular type of drug their using spurs grave and life-threatening symptoms. In 2020, roughly 6,089 people in Florida were killed by opioids, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Of those deaths, 5,302 were caused by fentanyl. Nationwide, the CDC reported drug overdose deaths topped 107,000, a record number for a one-year period.

If you think you have a problem, contact us at Cipriano & Johnson Counseling by calling (904) 246-0935.

National Fentanyl Awareness Day (May 10, 2022)

This video is about “National Fentanyl Awareness Day (May 10, 2022),” which is was just voted on through Congress, to bring about awareness surrounding the Fentanyl epidemic happening in America, and around the world.

Dr. Terri Gnann discusses some of the facts and misconceptions surrounding this deadly and mostly misunderstood synthetic drug.

Cipriano & Johnson Counseling views alcoholism and drug addiction as a disease, a progressive illness that affects the sufferer mentally, physically, and spiritually. The addict suffers from an allergy of the body that produces a physical compulsion coupled with a mental obsession that ensures that once stopped, the addict can not on their own resources, stay stopped. The addict remains powerless.

On Jan 20, 2022, Deaths involving synthetic opioids other than methadone (primarily fentanyl) continued to rise with 56,516 overdose deaths reported in 2020.

The Scope of the Opioid Epidemic in Florida

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported that Florida ranked fourth in the United States for total opioid overdose deaths in 2015.

Drug Overdose Epidemic

More than 932,000 people have died since 1999 from a drug overdose.1 Nearly 75% of drug overdose deaths in 2020 involved an opioid.2 Opioids are substances that work in the nervous system of the body or in specific receptors in the brain to reduce the intensity of pain.

Overdose deaths involving opioids, including prescription opioids, heroin, and synthetic opioids (like fentanyl), have increased by more than eight times since 1999.1 Overdoses involving opioids killed nearly 69,000 people in 2020, and over 82% of those deaths involved synthetic opioids.
